Richard is a Partner and Head of the Employment Law Unit. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers' Association and advises both employee and employer clients on all aspects of employment law ranging from employment contracts and compromise agreements to unfair dismissal, redundancy and discrimination claims. Richard has also advised on a number of termination packages for high profile sportsmen and sporting directors.
Background
Richard joined Blythe Liggins in 1994 having been an Articled Clerk with Freshfields in London where he qualified as a solicitor in the Litigation Department, before moving to Wragge & Co in Birmingham. He qualified in 1988 and became a Partner in 1998. He graduated from Cardiff University and gained a post graduate degree from Magdalene College, Cambridge.
Interests
Richard is a former rugby union international and Cambridge Rugby Blue who represented Cambridge University on the RFU Committee. He became a privileged member of the RFU in 2006. He also chairs the disciplinary hearings of the RFU in the Midlands region. He is a keen sportsman and is Chairman of Ashorne & Moreton Morrell Cricket Club and can be heard commentating on rugby matches for BBC CWR local radio. He is also a fun runner and kick boxing novice who enjoys classical and contemporary music. Richard is a Trustee of Myton Hospice.
