CONVEYANCING LAWYER RETIRES

09/07/2010

Jennie Haynes, one of the region’s best known conveyancing lawyers, is retiring from Leamington solicitors Blythe Liggins after more than 25 years in the job.

She joined the firm at its former Springfield office in Hall Green, Birmingham, in 1984, some years before all the offices were brought together in Leamington.

Now living in Solihull, she has been a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives for more than 30 years.

Partner David Lester, who heads the firm’s property department, said: “Jennie is extremely well known in the region and has built up a loyal clientele over her many years with the firm. She has been an enormous asset to the department.”

Jennie, who has worked under five senior partners, said: “I suppose the biggest change in all these years was the coming of the computer. My first job as head of the department was to oversee the introduction of a case management computer system which streamlined and speeded up the conveyancing procedure.

“It substantially reduces the amount of time and paperwork involved in administration, enabling fee earners to spend more time with their clients. It enables us to see at a glance the very latest state of play with regard to any client, without having to look through files of paperwork.”

Jennie said that she and her husband Ian hoped to do a lot more travelling, especially to Oman where their daughter Lynda has lived for almost ten years. “I’m also looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends doing pleasurable things like gardening, rambling and going to the theatre.

“But I shall miss the day-to-day contact with my colleagues and clients,” she said.
