“HOW TO BE A GOOD EXPERT” SEMINAR
20/12/2011
The family department recently hosted a seminar offering guidance and support to independent experts who are called upon to give evidence in family cases. The Family Proceedings Rules changed in April and we thought it would help if we updated experts on both the current court rules and recent developments in case law.
The “How to be a Good Expert” Seminar was chaired by Andrew Brooks, the head of the family department.
We were delighted to secure Alison Cook from St Philips Chambers in Birmingham as our guest speaker. Alison specialises in family law and is frequently instructed on complex financial cases. Alison was able to draw on her 20 years experience at the bar to present an informative and entertaining presentation.
The event was well attended by a wide range of experts to include estate agents, IFA’s, accountants and pension actuaries.
Andrew Brooks said “We have received a lot of positive feedback from attendees. The seminar was extremely helpful to those thinking of branching into this area as a new source of work and also provided an aide memoir to those who regularly provide expert evidence in family cases”.
